I GREW UP ON A FARM.

When I was younger I lived on a farm in Devon. On that farm we kept lots of animals: sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, pigs, - we once even kept two peacocks. One of my favourite things to do was to put on my waterproofs and roll around in a big patch of mud - sadly, none of my friends found this as enjoyable as I did.

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VET.

Well, that's what I wanted to be when I was a kid. I loved animals and found anatomy fascinating. But, sadly, I was no good at science.

I USED TO WRITE TV COMMERCIALS.

Before I became an author I worked for a big, London Advertising agency called Adam and Eve DDB. Here I helped create the famous John Lewis Christmas commercials.

I'VE BEEN AN AUTHOR FOR 7 YEARS AND COUNTING.

I quit my job in advertising to become a full-time author after I found success with my first book The Unbelievable Top Secret Diary of Pig. I love my job as an author and wouldn't change it for the world.

​

I AM RUBBISH AT SPELLING.

I have never been tested, but I strongly suspect that I am dyslexic. I have trouble remembering how even some of the simplest words are spelt. But this hasn't stopped me from being an author. So, if you suffer similarly, don't think you can't achieve!

I LOVE WRITING BUT I ALSO DRAW.

I not only wrote PESTS I also drew all the pictures. It took me about 2 months, working every day, to draw them all. It was hard work but I really enjoyed it. I drew the pictures with a black pencil crayon - I got through about 10 of them. I drew each picture, individually, on a piece of A3 cartridge paper. My publisher then scanned these and dropped them into the book.

I DREAM OF HAVING MY OWN SECTION IN THE BOOKSHOP.

I have also written a picture book, Daddy Fartypants. I hope to one day have written so many books that I get my own shelf in the bookshop.

I LOVE BUILDLING WEBSITES AND MAKING FILMS.

Not only have I built this website I have also created emerstamp.com where you can find out more all about me and my books. There is also diaryofpig.com where you can find out all about the Diary of Pig series. And finally, I have my own YouTube channel, The World of Emer Stamp, which I populate with a whole bunch of self-made films about me, my writing and anything else that takes my fancy.
